Joan Baggech

Mary Joan Baggech (Sanders), 94, passed away on Sunday, September 24, 2023 at Resthaven Care Center in Holland, Michigan.

Joan (pronounced Jo-Ann) was born in Pennsylvania to Mary Marie and Lennis James Sanders on October 25, 1928. She earned a degree from Bryn Mawr Hospital School of Nursing in 1949. For many years she worked as Head Nurse in the operating room at MacNeal Hospital in Berwyn, IL. Later, she worked as a nurse in the office of Primary Care Associates with Drs. Brad and Gary Wainer, and Sheila Berndt. She started there as an assistant nurse, helping to grow the practice from two to six doctors, and soon became their Managed Care Coordinator. She was loved and respected by everyone there, and feared by those who did not know her generous and loving nature. She retired from nursing in 2014 at age 86, and moved to Holland to be near her son and his family.

She enjoyed sewing, quilting, knitting, crocheting, traveling, and playing pinacle with her friends. She was active in her home church in Brookfield, IL for many years.

Joan is survived by a daughter, Melody Baggech, a son, Lennis Baggech, and 10 grandchildren: Aidan, Cholie, Anneka, and Isaac Baggech; Adie, Kate, and Gabe Marshall; Rebecca Deng, Nyaruach Wien, and Ni Lang.

A memorial service will be held at Dykstra Funeral Home - Mulder Chapel on Friday September 29 at 3:00 p.m.
