Life Story / Obituary
James R. VanDenBerg, age 79, of Holland, passed away on Wednesday, May 14, 2025.
James was a family man first and foremost. James enjoyed camping with his late wife, Linda and taking trips in their motor home. They also enjoyed staying in Gun Lake and New Buffalo when they were able. He was a biker at heart. He loved motorcycles and the lifestyle that came with them. He was one of the founding members of the Road Knights Motorcycle Club in Holland. James had a love of animals and throughout his lifetime he owned a variety of them rehabbing many throughout the years. James was a craftsman, gifted with his hands. You could find him tinkering and repairing and he loved wood working. He had old fashion ingenuity. James had an easy smile and a heart of gold. He was loved by everyone that knew him and he will truly be missed.
James is survived by two sons, ten grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, two great great-grandchildren, two step-daughters and seven siblings. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 40 years, Linda; three sisters and a step-daughter.
The family will receive visitors from 11:00am to 1:00pm, on Saturday, May 31, at the Dykstra Funeral Home - Northwood Chapel, 295 Douglas Avenue, Holland. A funeral ceremony will be held following visitation at 1:00pm at the funeral home. Reverend Emmett Brown presiding. Interment will be in Lakewood Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Harbor Shores Humane Society.
