Life Story / Obituary

Jim (James) Anders was our gifted and talented husband, father, grandfather and friend. His memory is carved in our hearts forever. He could fix anything except our broken hearts.

He started his lifelong career at age 21 in the dairy bottling industry. His natural mechanical ability helped him to excel in his career. His passion and perseverance allowed him to achieve his ultimate, personal goal of becoming a machinery Maintenance Manager in the fluid milk dairy industry for 30 years. For the last 25 years, he enjoyed his time at Bareman’s Dairy - now the Meijer Inc. Purple Cow Creamery in Holland, Michigan.

Jim shared a long list of hobbies with his family. First and foremost, he had a lifelong love of motorcycles. He loved traveling, visiting national parks and exploring historical places, kayaking, fishing and camping, to name a few. He proudly watched his children and grandchildren enjoy some of those very same hobbies.

Jim is survived by his wife Michelle, his companion and confidant of 40 years ; their three amazing children, Tracie (Phil) Malburg, Ashley Anders and Derrik (Jessica) Anders; five beautiful smart granddaughters; two sisters, Theresa (Melvin) Whittker and Faye (Tony) Summerhill; two brothers, Bill (Sharon) Anders and Nick (Karen) Anders; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Nora, and three brothers: Melvin, Ed and Charlie.

A memorial service will take place on Thursday, October 12 at 6:00pm at Dykstra Funeral Home - Northwood Chapel with a visitation to follow from 6:30pm - 8:00pm.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the National Parks Foundation or the Missouri State Parks in his honor. Visiting National Parks and Missouri State Parks, specifically Montauk State Park, always held a special place in his heart.
