Life Story / Obituary

Jack Carson Bradford was welcomed into the arms of Jesus on January 9, 2021 and is alive in Christ! As a young teen, following his father's death, Jack gave his life to the Lord and knew God would never, ever leave him.

Jack was born July 1, 1931 in Miami, FL and married Edna in 1952. He graduated from the University of Miami and the University of Detroit (MSW). As a marriage and family counselor, he worked for Wayne County Circuit Court and the State of Michigan.

Jack was a skilled builder, woodworker, and avid runner completing over thirty marathons including Boston twice and London. He created and performed a dramatic one-man stage show, "An Evening with Abraham Lincoln," for thirty years in more than fourteen states.

After Edna's death, he married Carole DeVos in Holland on 10/10/10. Together they sang in the Christ Memorial Church choir and served as pastoral care elders. Jack volunteered with Hope College, Community Action House, Kids Hope USA, and played French horn with the American Legion Band.

He is survived by his loving wife Carole and her children, Aaron (Afton) DeVos, Emily (Frank) Smith, four grandchildren, sisters and brother-in-law, Mary Mouw, Barbara (Rich) Poppe; his daughters, Carol (Robert Laslett) Bradford, Elizabeth (Glenn) Holcombe, Barbara (Arthur Unger) Bradford-Unger; ten grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and brother, William Bradford.

Jack's faith, kindness, radiant smile, and optimistic spirit will leave lasting footprints.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
