Irene D. Waltl, age 90, of Holland passed away Saturday, July 29, 2023, at Freedom Village.
Irene was born to Bartholomew “Bert” and Martha (Dombrowski) Buhl in Detroit, MI on June 30, 1933. She was a graduate of Stanislaw Catholic High School.
Irene was a bookkeeper for the Teamsters Union in Detroit and owned her own business called Creative Ceramics. After retirement she moved to Florida and lived there before coming to Holland to be near her daughter. She enjoyed quilting, ceramics, and polka dancing.
She was preceded in death by her first husband Edward Rusek in 2002, her second husband Frank Waltl in 2020 and a son Richard Rusek in 2021.
She is survived by her daughter: Kathleen (Brian) Smith; stepchildren: Denise Roberts, Donna Nightingale, Lauraine Shovely, and Michael Waltl; grandchildren: Adam, Jamie, and Jocelyn; great grandchildren: Lorelai, Moira, and Claire.
Cremation will take place and Irene will be buried with her husband Frank Waltl in a national cemetery in Florida. Arrangements are by Dykstra Funeral Homes-Downtown Chapel.
