Herschel Jay Boersen

Herschel Jay Boersen, age 79, of Holland died Thursday, June 9, 2022 at Holland Hospital.

Hershel was the oldest son of Herman Henry Boersen and Gladys A. (Graving) Boersen. He had four brothers, Wayne, Glen, Delwyn and Darryl Boersen. Herschel was born and raised in Holland, MI and attended West Ottawa High School. He met his wife Carol Joy Roberts in 1965 and married her on June 3, 1966. After 42 years of marriage Carol passed away on August 12, 2008 at her home. Hershel was employed at Howard Miller for over 20 years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting pheasant, woodworking and puzzles.

He was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Michael Harris in 2016.

He is survived by his children: Herschel Junior Boersen of Holland, Carol Harris of West Olive and Kevin and Lori Boersen of Holland; grandchildren:

Cody, Gabrielle and Zachary Boersen, Michael Harris, Nicole Harris, Brittany, Emily and Rebecca Boersen; great grandchildren: Gaven, Mackenzie, Haden, Brayden and Bronsen; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

A funeral service will be 1:00 pm, Monday, June 13, 2022 at Dykstra Funeral Homes-Mulder Chapel, 188 West 32nd Street in Holland. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be from 12:00-1:00 pm prior to the service at the chapel.
