Glenda Smith (Bouwman), age 78, died Friday, May 12, 2017 at St. Mary’s Hospital.

Glenda was born in Holland on February 18, 1939. She was a loving mother and grandmother known to most as the quick witted lady with a feisty, nervy personality. She will be remembered for being to the point, with a comical twist, by the ones lucky enough to have personally known her. Blessed with the grace of God and the love of Jesus, Glenda will be truly missed and never forgotten by her loved ones, whom had the pleasure of knowing her. She loved gardening, baseball, doing crafts, dancing and especially, her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Harvey and Marie Bouwman, husband, Oscar Smith, partner, Raymond McCue, brother, Loren Bouwman and sister, Hazel Vuurens.

She is survived by her children: Clint (Chrissy) Smith, Noralee Smith; grandchildren: Josh Smith, Alyssia Smith, Jessica Fenton; great grandson: Cole Wright; brothers: Brent (Pat) Bouwman, Gary (Char) Bouwman, and Walt Vuurens; sister:, Marilyn Soulliere, Thelma Thompson, and Gayle Kollen; and many nieces and nephews.

A private celebration of life ceremony will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association – Greater Michigan Chapter, 25200 Telegraph Road, Southfield, MI 48033. Arrangements were by the Dykstra Funeral Home – Downtown Chapel. Please visit www.dykstrafuneralhome.com to sign the guest book or leave a message.
