Life Story / Obituary
Geraldine (Jerri) Moore, 86, of Holland, passed away unexpectedly at home Wednesday, March 4, 2015.
Jerri was born in Holland on December 24, 1928, to William and Trientje (Tena) Achterhof. She attended Holland Public Schools and, as a young woman, worked at Cummerford's Restaurant.
Her favorite pastime was reading and in later years, due to failing eyesight, loved her books on tape.
Besides her parents and parents-in-law, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Gerald Dekker and Charles Austin; brothers Harold Achterhof and Elton Achterhof and his wife, Alvina; sister, Theresa Achterhof, sisters-in-law, Lois Achterhof and Edith Broekhuis, brother-in-law, Leonard Ver Schure, sisters-in-law & husbands, Jean & Vernon Buttles and Margaret and Gord Schamper, brothers-in-law Colin Moore and Jerry Berkompas.
Survivors include her husband of 47 years, Don Moore; brother, William Achterhof (Gay) and sister, Alice Ver Schure; children, David Dekker (Marsha), Linda Nieboer (Bob), Holland; Richard Austin (Deb), Hamilton; Dannon Moore (Mary Jean), Santa Clarita, California; Michelle King (Mike), Fennville, and Candace Moore, Knoxville, Tennessee. In addition, she leaves 9 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren; sisters-in-law: Mary Francis Moore and Sharon Berkompas and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be 11:00 am, Monday, March 9, 2015 at Rose Park Reformed Church 14241 Rose Park Drive in Holland. Reverend Greg Ten Brink will be officiating. Cremation will take place.
Visitation will be from 2-4 pm, Sunday, March 8, 2015 at Northwood Chapel 295 Douglas Avenue in Holland. Memorial contributions may be given to the American Macular Degeneration Foundation, P.O.
