Life Story / Obituary
Gerald (Jerry) Menken, age 84, of Holland went to be with his Lord and Savior Saturday, April 13, 2013 at Hospice House of Holland.
Jerry was a member of Calvary Reformed Church where he served as a deacon. He was active with Boy Scout Troop #157. He graduated from Holland Christian High School. He was a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps. Jerry was employed at Don Austin Interiors in Grand Haven, also with Michigan Wisconsin Pipeline Company and American Natural Gas in Hamilton for 28 years, retiring in 1983. He was a member of the Elks #1315 and the Holland American Legion, Post #6. He was preceded in death by his wife Lois in 2007.
He is survived by his daughter and son: Jan and Steve Bailey of Holland, Eric (Rick) and Karen Menken of Holland; 4 grandchildren: Matt and Tracy Menken, Kelli and Bryan Brouwer, Mitch and Marisol Menken and Lisa and Matt Huyser; 8 great grandchildren; sister: Gertrude Menken of Holland
A funeral service with military honors will be 11:00 AM, Tuesday, April 16, 2013 at Calvary Reformed Church 995 east 8th Street in Holland.
Reverends Ron Beyer and Dan Carter will be officiating.
Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be from 2-4 and 7-9 PM, Monday, April 15, 2013 at Mulder Chapel – Dykstra Funeral Homes 188 west 32nd Street in Holland.
Memorial contributions may be given to Hospice of Holland.
