Georgina Palella, 90, died at home, Thursday, October 31, 2013.
Born in FulgencioYegros, Paraguay, she moved to Holland in 1993 to live with her daughter Poema. She was a Captain with the Salvation Army in Argentina and Paraguay. She and her husband were one of the founders of the Free Methodist Church in Paraguay; also working for other Protestant Churches.
In Holland she worked with Macedonia Church and Sinai Assembly of God where she later became a member. She volunteered for the Abuelitas en Accion, Washington School, El Puente program and the Lakeshore Latino Outreach Center. She had also worked at Lemon Fresh as a seamstress for several years.
She was preceded in death by her husband the Rev. Orlando Palella in 1996.
Surviving are her children, Mr. & Mrs. Edgardo Palella, Dr. & Mrs. Delimiro Palella of Asuncion, Paraguay and Poema (Ed) Weller of Holland; three grandchildren, sister in law Anita Palella of Cordoba, Argentina; and many nieces and nephews.
Services are at 10:00 a.m. Monday at Sinai Assembly of God Church, 533 Central, Holland, with the Rev. Santos Figueroa officiating. Burial will be in Graafschap Cemetery. Visitation is from 2-4 p.m. Sunday at the Dykstra Funeral Home-Mulder Chapel, 188 W. 32nd. Street.
