Life Story / Obituary

George William Prins, age 90, of Holland, began his earthly journey on April 27, 1926 and entered into his heavenly home on November 2, 2016.

George was born in Holland, MI to Bert and Theressa (Walters) Prins and was a lifelong resident.

He served in the United States Navy during WWII. Following an injury in a construction accident in 1951 that left him a paraplegic, he enrolled at Davenport College to become an accountant.

George was a longtime member and a greeter at Christ Memorial Church.

He was preceded in death by a son-in-law, David Reeves in 2003, brothers, Harvey, Julius, and Floyd; and a sister, Anna Laarman.

Surviving is the joy of his life, June of 66 years; daughter, Kathleen Reeves; 3 grandchildren, Timothy Reeves, Emily and Joe Van Faasen (Graham, Ben, and Maggie), and Andrew and Diana Reeves; sister, Shirley and Tim Brown; 3 “adopted” children that became a part of George and June’s life, many years ago; Gary Scolten, Donna Tuls, and Dave Seigers; nephews, nieces, cousins, and loving care givers.

Funeral services will be 11 am Saturday (November 5) at Christ Memorial Church, 595 Graafschap Road, with the Rev. Steve Vander Molen officiating.

Burial will be in Graafschap Cemetery.

Visitation will follow the service.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Holland, Christ Memorial Church Choir, or Holland Christian Schools.

Arrangements are by the Dykstra Funeral Home-Mulder Chapel.
