George Lawrence Jr.

George Robert Lawrence Jr., Born March 13, 1931, went home to be with the Lord on January 23, 2018.

George was born in Holland, MI and spent most of his life in the Holland area. He married Ann M. Veldman on December 19, 1952. They were married for 65 years. During the early 1950’s George served in the U.S. Marine Corps and was stationed in California, Japan and Hawaii. He was a charter member of the Rose Park Reformed Church, serving as a deacon and elder as well as a Sunday school teacher and catechism teacher. He was employed by Herman Miller Inc. for 43 years, retiring in 1994. Throughout his life George was a Christian man of honor and integrity who set a positive example for all those whom he came in contact. He was a true and dependable friend to all who had the privilege of knowing him.

George is survived by his wife Ann; sons Randall (Deborah), Rodney (Ilene), Thomas (Vicki), Timothy (Cindy); grandchildren, Miranda (Paul), Colin, Miriah, Heidi (Adam), Joshua, Ashley (Bill), Eric (Alex), Matthew; and siblings Ruth (Harv), Nellie, Minnie (Larry), Chuck (Joyce), David (Rosalie), Larry, Steve, Claudia (Bill), Peggy (Joe), Ken, Doris (Doc) and Joe (Deb); brother-in-law John Veldman.

A funeral service will be at 11:00 am, Saturday, January 27, 2018 at Rose Park Reformed Church, 14241 Rose Park Drive, Holland, MI 49424, with fellowship and refreshments to follow. Rev. Dave VanOpstall will be officiating. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be from 5-8 pm, Friday, January 26, 2018 at Rose Park Reformed Church. Donations can be made in George’s name to Luke 2:52 Ministries, 400 Market Place, Benton Harbor, MI 49022. Arrangements are by Dykstra Funeral Home – Northwood Chapel.
