Gary was born in Battle Creek, MI and moved to the Saugatuck area in 1991. He was owner and operator of De Mond’s Super Valu. In 2001, Gary semi-retired but continued to remain active in the business.

He was a member of All Saints Episcopal Church, was a past officer of Cowhill Yacht Club, as well a member of the Elks Club and Moose Club.

Gary was an avid golfer and enjoyed the many golf courses in the Saugatuck area. He enjoyed traveling, reading about history and geneology and was interested in aviation, owning and operating his own plane.

Gary truly enjoyed keeping his family and friends close including his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Sadly, Gary died at his home, Monday, November 19, 2012 following a lengthy battle with cancer. He will be forever missed!

He is survived by his wife, Dee De Mond and childen; Brett (Billie Sue) De Mond of Fennville, Craig De Mond of Saugatuck , Nick (Sally) De Mond of Fennville, Jeffrey (Salina) Scott of Troy, MI., and Holly (Dan) Frayer of Bentonville, AR; 14 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren; and a brother, Dave (Nadine) Linnemeier of Saugatuck.

Memorial services will be held 11am Tuesday, November 27, 2012 at All Saints Episcopal Church, 252 Grand St., Saugatuck, with Rev. Corwin Stoppel officiating. A memorial visitation will be Monday, 6-8 pm also at the church.

Memorial gifts may be given to: American Cancer Society, Christian Neighbors (Food pantry) or Cowhill Yacht Club (Charity organization).

Arrangements are by the Saugatuck Chapel, Dykstra Funeral Homes.
