Frank A. Castaneda Jr. age, 72 peacefully went to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 22, 2022 at Holland Hospital with loved ones by his side.
Frank was born in San Antonio, TX to parents Frank Sr. and Gloria (Ahumada) Castaneda. Frank met the love of his life Maria DeLeon at Lubies Cafeteria in 1967. They moved for work from Texas to Grand Rapids in 1969 and started a family together having 5 children. When Marias job moved from Grand Rapids to Holland, Frank decided that it was best to move so Maria would be closer to work. Everyone who knew Frank knew him to be selfless, loving, compassionate, and strong. He worked for 35 years at Rowe International until his retirement. Following his retirement, he enjoyed gardening, fishing, watching wrestling and tennis, Maria's fried chicken and volunteering at St. Vincent de Paul Center (which he did for over 10 years). He was one to always lend a helping hand to family, and anyone who was in need. Most importantly, Frank was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. His children were the eyes of his dreams, and his grandchildren were the apple of his eyes. He will be deeply missed by all that knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank & Gloria Castaneda; brothers, Jesse A. Castaneda, Rudalpho A. Castaneda; son, Alvarado O. Castaneda; and son-in-law, Fred L. Garza.
Frank is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Maria; daughters, Elizabeth (Elmo) Mendoza, Mary Jessica Garza; sons, Johnny Flores, Mark Flores, Frank D. (April) Castaneda; 23 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; special dog, Lucas; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
The family will receive visitors from 4:00pm to 7:00pm, on Thursday January 27, at the Mulder Chapel, 188 West 32nd Street, Holland. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00am, Friday January 28, at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 171 West 13th Street, Holland. Father Charlie Brown presiding. Interment in Restlawn Memorial Gardens, Holland.
