Life Story / Obituary
Evelyn Brower was a dedicated wife and mother with a vibrant faith, her life a constant example of the Christian beliefs that were engraved upon her heart.
Throughout the decade of the 1930s, our nation had seen peaks and valleys within the economic struggles of this time. In the spring of 1937, American industrial production exceeded that of 1929 until June of 1937, when the American economy took a sharp downturn, lasting for 13 months through most of 1938. George and Hannah (Davis) Moomey, of Holland, Michigan were blessed with an exciting time within their own family, however, as they rejoiced in the birth of their daughter, Evelyn, on September 2, 1937. Evelyn was one of thirteen children in her family and she was raised in the family home located in Holland, attending local schools as well.
After she graduated from Holland High School, she entered the work force and was a dedicated employee for both the Baker Furniture Company and the Life Savers Company, both located in her hometown of Holland.
Life took an exciting turn for Evelyn when she met and married a charming man named Julius Brower in December of 1979. Evelyn not only became a wife as a result of this union, but a mother as well as Julius was the proud father of four children: Julie, Linda, Karen, and Ronald. Together, Evelyn and Julius were blessed with four additional children: Joann, Vickie, Patricia, and Brenda. Evelyn embraced her roles as a wife and mother; providing unconditional love and support.
Faith was a solid cornerstone in Evelyn’s life and it was not just something she possessed, but faith was something she lived out each and every day. She was a dedicated member of the New Community Fourth Reformed Church and she also gained much fulfillment through the Women of Faith ministry, an organization which holds non-denominational conferences throughout North America.
There were a variety of interests which Evelyn enjoyed and that made her the unique individual that her family and friends knew and loved. Antiques were a passion of hers and she had stacks of books educating her about them. Evelyn loved both buying and selling antiques and had been an antique dealer for the past 25 years. Additionally, she loved gardening and spent time in her gardens as often as she could.
As a lifelong resident of Holland, Evelyn Brower impacted the lives of so many with her warm demeanor and kind heart. Evelyn’s greatest source of joy was the family she shared with her beloved husband, Julius, and she made a lifetime of precious memories which will be dearly treasured by all those she leaves behind. She will be deeply missed.
