Evea Grace (Race) Klungle, of Fennville, passed away Sunday, April 10, 2011, at Holland Hospital, just 4 months after her 90th birthday. She is survived by George Ernest (Barb) Race, of Albion, MI, their children Veronica (Don) Cockroft (children: Don Jr, Tiffany, and Brandon) and Karen Alexander (child Justin); Patricia (W.Wade) Rhoney, of Greer, SC (children: Jonathan Rhoney and Elizabeth Katelin (Travis) Waters); and Constance Zoodsma, of Holland, OH (children: Chelsea, Adrian, & Theodore). She is preceded in death by her parents, George Albert and Sybil Evea Race.

Evea Grace was born in Fennville, attended Macks Landing School, and graduated from Fennville High School, where she played accordion in the marching band. She was a multi-talented musician. In her youth, she enjoyed playing the piano, as well as accompanying other musicians. She served Fennville Bible Church, as well as Immanuel Baptist (Holland, MI) as church organist.

An accomplished seamstress, Evea Grace created everything from doll clothes & lingerie to wedding dresses & boat covers. She began sewing at her mother’s elbow. As a youth and a young mother, she made and tailored clothes for her family, often recycling other clothing that still had a lot of wear left in it, a skill and philosophy she passed on to her daughters. She continued to sew, for fun as well as for customers, up until she was hospitalized in November, 2010.

The family wishes to thank all who have provided great care and compassion while at Holland Hospital, Freedom Village, and TenderCare, as well as the battalion of friends who provided her (and her family) with assistance, support, and many hours of companionship in her later years.

Cremation will take place; no visitation or services are planned. Arrangements provided by the Mulder Chapel, Dykstra Funeral Homes.

In lieu of donations & memorials, the family encourages you to use the time available to spend time with your family members.
