Ernest Everett Bekken

Ernest Everett Bekken, 90, of Holland, met his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday August 23, 2017. Ernest was born in East Saugatuck, Michigan and was a proud veteran. He served his country honorably in the United States Army during the Second World War. Mr. Bekken retired from Hart & Cooley after 41 years of employment. He was a kind and gentle man with a quiet steadiness about him; helping others was second nature, as was being a great listener to anyone that needed one. Ernest was a lifelong member of Maplewood Reformed Church in Holland.

He is Survived by his wife of 28 years, Barbara; daughters, Judy (Mark) Fredricks, Jackie (Mike) Mol, Karen (Larry) Plank; son, Dale Fredricks; son-in-law, Paul Gebben; 9 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; in-laws, Grace Fredricks, Doris Van Huis, Art (Shirley) Johnson, Elaine (Harold) Peters; several extended families, and many friends.

Mr. Bekken was preceded in death by his first wife Lois; sons, Robert and Jack; daughter, Janice Gebben.

Visitation will be Sunday August 27 from 4-7p.m. at the Dykstra Funeral Home - Mulder Chapel, 188 West 32nd St., Holland. Rev. Aaron VanDerVeen is officiating the funeral ceremony at the Dykstra Funeral home - Mulder Chapel, Monday August 28, at 11:00a.m. A luncheon will follow at the funeral home. Committal and burial with military honors will take place at Graafschaap Cemetery in Holland. The family was served by the Dykstra Funeral Home - Mulder Chapel.
