Ellen VanRaalte Frieswyk

Ellen Lavern Van Raalte-Frieswyk, age 81, passed away peacefully on February 13th, 2026, at Resthaven under Hospice care.

Ellen was born in Holland, MI on October 28, 1944.

Ellen was a graduate of Calvin College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in elementary education as well as a graduate of Western Theological Seminary with a Master of Religious Education degree. Ellen taught grade school at Jenison Christian Schools from 1966-1972. Ellen taught private piano lessons from 1979-1990. Ellen worked for Park Township as the Deputy Clerk from 1984-2006.

Ellen is survived by her husband Robert Frieswyk. Ellen is also survived by her children Krista Smith (Ben), Kent Van Raalte (Laurie), Steve Frieswyk (Tracy) and Karen Frieswyk. Ellen is also survived by her grandchildren (in age order) Hannah, Maddie, Aleiah, Liam, Lilly, Kayla, and Nya.

There will be a celebration of life party on: Saturday, February 21st, 10am – 12pm at Central Park Reformed Church, 614 Myrtle, Holland.
