Ellen Louise Haasjes, age 71 of Holland, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on December 24, 2018 at Spectrum Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids.

Ellen was born and raised in Nebraska and moved to Holland in 1973. She worked at Prince Corporation for 13 years and was a member of Peace Lutheran Church. She loved taking trips around the country, was always tending to her many flowers, loved boating, bowling and Nascar races. She enjoyed crosswords and puzzles but most importantly she loved spending time with her children and grand-children.

Ellen was preceded in death by her parents, Marv and Betty Polege.

She is survived by her loving husband George of 43 years; son, Ron Sampson; daughters, Tammy (Bruce) Geurink, Michelle (Bill) Dick; grandchildren, Jake Sampson, Cait (Dakota) Bankston, Megan (Luke) Siriano, Luke Geurink, Makayla Dick, Levi Dick; great-grandchild, Skylar; stepdaughter, Merritt Christine (Rob) Thurkettle; step-granddaughter, Madisson; brother, Bill (Dorothy) Brown along with nephews, nieces and cousins.

Visitation for Ellen will be Saturday, December 29, 2018 from 2-3:30pm at Dykstra Funeral Home – Northwood Chapel, 295 Douglas Ave, in Holland. A funeral service will take place following the visitation at 3:30pm also at Northwood Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to Fred & Lena Meijer Heart Center.
