Edwin Plaggemars, age 92, of Holland, passed away on Monday, February 16, 2026.

Ed Attended Holland Public Schools. He married his high school sweetheart, Marlene in 1955. In his youth he worked for his father’s service station Downtown Holland. Ed then went on to serve in the United States Army and served in Korea. He Married Marlene while on leave from the service. Later he worked for Lamar construction as a mason. After Lamar he transitioned into working for the family business, Bill’s Dozer Service and eventually purchased the business. Ed ran Bill’s Dozer Service with his son into his 80’s. Ed always said, “If you love what you do, you will never work a day in your life”. He did quite a bit of traveling across the country with Marlene in his motor home making wonderful memories and friends on each trip. He was a Member of Bethel Reformed Church and Later Trinity Reformed Church in Holland. Ed was a true family man and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and family. The United States Army Honor Guard and The V.F.W. Post 2144 will bestow military honors at the funeral ceremony.

Ed is survived by his wife of 71 years, Marlene; children, Mike (Anne Geurink) Plaggemars, Sandy (Greg) Fowler; grandchildren, Mikayla, Peyton, Ryan, Devin and Mason.

Ed was preceded in death by a son, Billy Plaggemars; one brother and three sisters.

The family will receive visitors on Monday, February 23, from 12:00pm to 1:00pm, at the Dykstra Funeral Home – Northwood Chapel, 295 Douglas Avenue, Holland. A funeral ceremony will take place at the Chapel at 1:00pm with Reverend Deb Yurk officiating. Interment will take place at Restlawn Memorial Gardens, Holland.
