Earl Stoutemire, age 90, of Holland, Michigan, passed away October 12, 2021.

Earl Jacob Stoutemire was born November 10, 1930, in Indiana, to Leonard and Gladys Stoutemire, who preceeded him in death. The family moved to Morgan Park, a suburb of Chicago, where he grew up. Leonard, Earl’s father purchased property in Holland in the late 40’s. Earl at the age of seventeen, came to Holland with his father and they built the family’s home together. Earl went back to Chicago to live, working several different jobs before enlisting in the army on December 4, 1950, at the age of 20. He fought in the Korean War and was honorably discharged from active duty September 6, 1952 and transferred to the army reserve. Earl met and married Ludean Woods in 1954, while still serving our country, to this union was born Gladys and Lonnie. Earl was fully discharged from the army, October 23, 1956. Earl migrated to Richmond, California in the early 60’s and worked as a carpenter. He met and married Shirley Whittington, from this union was born Ronald and Gig. Upon his mother’s death, Earl returned to Holland. He worked at Excello until retirement. Earl could be stubborn at times, but would gladly give you the shirt off of his back. Once back in Holland, Earl had a full time job helping his sisters raise their children. Every morning, like clockwork, he would go to McDonald’s rain or shine, once there he would order breakfast and then sit talking with his buddies for hours. Seldom did he miss a day going. The rest of his day he watched his favorite soaps, The Young and the Restless, The Bold and the Beautiful, Price is Right and the Steve Harvey Show. Earl would make his phone calls during commercial breaks and then rush you off the phone when his program came back on. He loved everything about the old west, with his favorite being Roy Rogers and his horse Trigger, he could talk for hours about them. Earl had the opportunity to go to the Roy Roger’s Museum, then there really was no stopping him. He would finish off the rest of the day by watching old western movies which he called “shoot em ups”, before going to sleep. Earl loved to eat but his favorite was the part of the turkey that goes over the fence last and pig’s feet. He moved to Fresno in 2016 where he lived with his son, Ronald, while he received treatment for cancer until passing. His sisters Frances Stoutemire and Leonardine Jackson preceeded him in death. He leaves to mourn his sister Naomi Ruth Brown; his children Gladys (Rev. Leo) Wright, Lonnie (Harvey) Ware, Ronald Stoutemire, Gig (Arthur) Jenkins; grandchildren Shreka (John) Knight, Derrick Wright, Pranati (David) Jones, Randie Bell, Ronnell Bell, Zaire Stoutemire, Saphire Stoutemire, Brandon Jenkins, Ravyn Jenkins, Evette (Kenny) Williams, Justin (Natasha) Ware; eighteen great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, a host of nephews and nieces.
