Dorothy (Dot) Cunningham Burke, a lifetime resident of Holland, Michigan passed away peacefully on August 25, 2017. She was born to Charles and Katherine Cunningham on October 10,1921. Dot graduated from Holland High School, then went to work in local factories to help in the war effort for WWII. She married Walter Burke on July 27, 1945, shortly after his return from duty as a Sgt. In the Army Aircorps and prisoner of war in Germany. They raised their four children together.

Dot worked part time as a salesperson selling women and children's clothes and bridal gowns. She enjoyed playing bridge, traveling, her rose garden and going to Holland State Park, especially for breakfast and to see sunsets or watch thunderstorms.

Dot is predeceased by her parents, her son, Thomas Burke, and her husband, Walt. Her brother, C.C. (Curly) Cunningham and sister, Louise Marfia also predeceased her.

Dot is survived by her three children, Kay Meunier (Ray) of Williamsburg, Va., Richard Burke (Beth) of Zeeland and Pat Swanson (Don) of Okemos; six grandchildren, Kim Anderson, Thomas Burke, Michael Meunier, Kristin Swanson, Kelly Swanson and Kara Swanson; five great grandchildren, Lindsey, Tyler and Zachary Anderson, Avea Lehtonen and Sigge Swanson Kirkland.

At Dot's request, no services will be held. The family suggests that those who want to remember her do so whenever they do any of the activities that they enjoyed doing with her.

Arrangements are by the Dykstra Funeral Home-Downtown Chapel.
