Doris Jean Prins Alderink, age 96 of Holland, passed away on December 14, 2024.

Doris was born January 21, 1928, to Rev. Jacob and Marie Prins. She entered the nursing program at Blodgett Memorial Hospital and received her RN degree in 1950. She married Paul Alderink on July 21, 1950. Doris enjoyed being a wife, mother to her 5 children, grandma to her 14 grandchildren and Nana to her 26 great grandchildren.

Graduating from the Nursing Program at Blodgett Memorial Hospital where she received her RN degree in 1950. She found nursing a satisfying and challenging profession, working in Grand Rapids, Holland Hospital, Jackson County, Kentucky and Platte, SD. Doris especially enjoyed her work in clinics and home nursing in Appalachia in the 1960's and 1970"s.

She served churches with her husband Paul (Preacher) in Jamestown, MI, Sioux Falls, SD, Annville, KY and Platte, SD. Currently a member of First Reformed Church in Holland she served as an Elder, taught Sunday School and sang in the choir.

In retirement she actively engaged her family and her friends at First Reformed and Appledorn Villages. She also enjoyed keeping up with her extended family on Facebook. Doris also kept in touch with her many friends from past churches and her years at Annville Institute.

Preceded in death by her husband, parents, brother Robert Prins and great grandchildren Isaiah and Mason Thaler. Survived by her sister-in-law Ruth Prins of Canon City, CO. Her children Bruce & Barb of Holland, MI, Tim and Karen of The Villages, FL, SueAnn and Dan Kappers of Waynesville, NC, Mark and Katy of Nampa, ID and Scott and Julie of Wagner, SD.

Visitation with the family will be held Monday, December 23 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the First Reformed Church of Holland, 630 State Street. There will be a memorial service at 11:00 AM at the church. Burial will be in Pilgrim Home Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the First Reformed Church Music Fund.

Arrangements are by the Dykstra Funeral Home-Mulder Chapel.
