Donna Vander Veen

Donna Mae Vander Veen (Strabbing), 90 of Holland, MI, passed away on April 4, 2022 in Holland.

Donna was born in Holland, Michigan to Gerrit and Katherine Strabbing (Peterson) on June 25, 1931. She attended Holland Public Schools and worked at Robertshaw for many years before retiring to care for her grandchildren. Donna enjoyed spending time with her family, volunteering at her church and socializing with her many good friends. She was also an active lifetime member of the VFW Post 2144 Women’s Auxiliary serving as Chaplain for many years. Donna had a servant heart and welcomed her home to many over the years creating many joyful memories for all.

Donna is survived by her children Eileen and Tom Wiersma and Diane and John Ybarra of Holland; 7 grandchildren, Chris and Gloria Wiersma; Chad Wiersma, Rhiannon and Derek Wolff, Ashley and Mark Zuidema, Stephanie and Jon Ybarra-Stefan, John and Amy Ybarra and Myles Ybarra; 11 great grandchildren; sister-in-law Carol Strabbing and many nieces and nephew. She was preceded in death by her husband Albertus Vander Veen; daughter Pamela Kammeraad; son-in-law Craig Kammeraad; parents Gerrit and Katherine Strabbing; sister Joann Cooper; brothers Kenneth and Clifford Strabbing; sister-in-law Rosie Strabbing.

Funeral service will be held at Christ Memorial Church on April 8 at 11:00am (visitation 10:00am) with Reverend Mike Westerveld officiating. Private graveside burial will be held with the family at Graafschap Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Dykstra Funeral Homes - Mulder Chapel at 188 West 32nd Street on April 7 from 4:00-6:00pm. Dykstra Funeral Homes – Mulder Chapel will be handling the funeral arrangements.

Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Holland. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the staff of Holland Hospital and Resthaven Care Facility.
