It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father and friend, Donald Wayne Burrows, age 89, who passed away at home on November 26th, 2024.
Don is survived by his wife, Kathleen Burrows of Michigan and children, including daughter, Tempy Cook (Mike) of Florida, Tammy Wenzel (Timothy) of Michigan, Jeff Burrows, Daniel Burrows, and Dennis Burrows, all of Florida. Also survived by stepchildren, Cynthia Ricca, Christine Ferris and Andrew Bradley (Stephanie), all of Michigan. Don had many nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Don was preceded in death by his son, Timothy Burrows and stepson, Michael Bradley, as well as, siblings, Toby Burrows, Robert Burrows, Richard Burrows, and Juanita Crawford.
Don was born in South Haven, MI on December 3, 1934. After growing up in South Haven, Don joined the army at 17 and fought in the Korean War. Upon returning to Michigan, Don settled down and began a family, while working as a carpenter, towing and commercial diver. Don moved to the Florida Keys in the late sixties, owned Key Blasting as a licensed dynamite blaster.
Moving to California in 1977, with his wife and family, he began a successful career as a builder. Don built many beautiful homes along the coast of Monterey Bay, California, as well as, renovating many homes with his wife Kathleen, until their retirement in (1999) when they moved to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico for some years. They eventually settled in Inverness, Florida until recently moving back to Holland, Michigan.
Don was an avid fisherman, enjoyed skiing and golfing, as well as, spending time with his friends and family. He was still active, fishing, building and doing home projects well into his eighties. Don will be remembered as a kind and loving man. He was remembered as a funny, smart, honest, and helpful man and will be missed by many. May he rest in peace.
Interment will be held later, the date is not yet set at The Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida.
