Donald Duquette

Donald F. Duquette, age 88, of Holland, passed away on Tuesday, January 29, 2013 at his home.

He was born in Manistique, MI and was a veteran of the United States Navy serving during World War II. He retired from BASF after 25 years of employment. He was a charter member of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Parish. He was a member of VFW Post 4420 in Manistique, MI. He loved being outdoors either sailing or fishing. He loved wood carving, painting, and making rugs on his loom. He was a great family man and loved his wife, children, granddaughters, and great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Donna Marie Duquette in 1958; and three great grandsons, Zachary, Isaac, and Jacob Den Bleyker.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Martha (Rice) Duquette of Holland; his children, Donald N. and Kathy Duquette of Ann Arbor, Martha and Rich Mark of Allegan, and Debbie and Wayne Laarman of Holland; three granddaughters; eight great grandchildren; his sister, Betty Lasich of Manistique; his brothers, Jim (Sharon) Duquette of Sault Ste. Marie, and John (Jo Ann) Duquette of Ludington; his sisters-in-law, Bibi Duquette of Manistique, Carol Duquette of Montana, Jackie (Howard) Davis of South Carolina; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, February 2, 2013 at Our Lady of the Lake Parish, 480 N 152nd Avenue.

Visitation will be held from 5-8pm on Friday, February 1, 2012 at the Northwood Chapel, Dykstra Funeral Homes, 295 Douglas Avenue and also on Saturday from 10:00am to 11:00am prior to the funeral mass at the church.

Interment will take place at a later date in Fairview Cemetery in Manistique, MI.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the American Diabetes Association or Hospice of Holland.
