Deva Murr

A loving Wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend.

Deva Ann Murr passed away at her home on Thursday, January 12, 2023 in Holland.

Deva was born on March 28, 1947 in Corbin, KY. She graduated from West Ottawa High School and in 1964 she married her husband of 58 years, Douglas Murr; they had three sons: Douglas Murr Jr., David Murr, and Darren Murr.

Deva retired from Donnelly after 30 years. In her free time she was an excellent painter and seamstress. Deva and her husband, Douglas, loved being a part of Shriner’s Hospital and helping the children any time they could. Deva’s pride and joy in life was her family, especially her “great-grand babies”.

Deva was a light in the world of all that met her; she could be described as the type of person that would go out of her way to help anyone in need and would put others needs ahead of her own time and time again. She was known as the favorite aunt, sweetest grandmother, the absolute best mother, and much more. It was such an honor being around Deva. Her sweet, upbeat spirit was contagious, and she had a smile that will never be forgotten. Being around her was like being wrapped in a warm embrace. She was sunshine.

Deva was preceded in death by her parents: James and Virgie Harris, sisters: Ada Harris and Willene Harris, brother Danny Harris and R.A. Harris and her son Douglas Murr Jr.

Deva is survived by her husband Douglas Murr, brothers: Hugh Harris and Jim Harris, two sons: David Murr and Darren Murr, her grandchildren, David Lee Murr, Kayleighjo Murr, Jerade Murr, and Hunter Murr and her many great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be 10:00 am, Wednesday, January 18, 2023 at Dykstra Funeral Homes-Northwood Chapel, 295 Douglas Avenue in Holland. Pastor Douglas White will be officiating. Burial will be in Lakewood Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6:00 – 8:00 pm, Tuesday, January 17 at Northwood Chapel. In lieu of flowers please consider a memorial gift/donation in her name to her church, Northpoint Assembly of God Church, 4200 152nd Avenue in Holland.
