After a two day epic battle against an aortic aneurysm, our Husband, Father, Papop, Brother, Nephew, Cousin, Friend, Viking, Resident Artist and Storyteller Extraordinaire passed on to Heaven to be reunited with his Mother, Father, Brothers, Son-in-law, and a lifetime of beloved pets who preceded him in death.

Dennis Frank Hamilton was born in Muskegon on June 15, 1941. He spent an amazing childhood in Ludington, Michigan with his parents, Frank and Doris Hamilton (deceased), and his brothers Dale Hamilton (deceased) survived by wife Carol, Doug Hamilton (deceased), and Keith Hamilton. After Dennis graduated from Ludington High School he enrolled in the United States Air Force and was stationed at Otis Air Force Base on Cape Cod MA. He met his beloved wife, Marie Elaine DiPalma Hamilton, who survives him, at a dance on the Base and they have spent the last 56 years showing us all what dancing with a partner through life should look like.

Dennis and Marie started their family in Massachusetts and then moved to Ludington, Michigan for a time before putting down roots in Holland, MI in 1970. Dennis enjoyed every minute of raising his three girls; Denise Hamilton (partner Lori Morency) of Brockton, MA, Diana Hamilton Byrne (Frederic D. Byrne deceased) of Holland, MI and Terri Hamilton Smith (David E. Smith) of Holland, MI .

While in Holland, Dennis and Marie enjoyed participating in The Holland Friends of Art, Holland Community Theater, and were parishioners at St. Francis de Sales Church as well as Central Wesleyan Church where he sang in the choir. His beautiful baritone voice will be forever missed by his family. In addition to his life work which includes Draftsman, Engineer, Small Business owner and Artist, Dennis spent his life on bleachers, on sports fields, in auditoriums and in galleries in support of his daughters and then his beloved grandsons; Robert Anthony Byrne, Cabel Hamilton Smith, and Collin Hamilton Smith.

There will be a visitation and story telling at Dykstra Funeral Home – Mulder Chapel, 188 West 32nd Street in Holland, MI on Saturday, November 24, 2018 from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm. Please join us in celebrating his life. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Holland Harbor Humane Society or Holland Friends of Art.
