David W. Doornewerd, 68, of Holland, passed away unexpectedly at Spectrum Butterworth Hospital on August 24, 2017. He graduated from West Ottawa High School in 1968. He served his country honorably in the United States Army and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. David was employed at Cummins Bridgeway for 40 years. Mr. Doornewerd was a longtime member of Fellowship Reformed Church. He was an avid sportsman and motor cycle enthusiast.
David is survived by his wife of 44 years, Jean; sons, Jake (Maggie), James; grandchildren, Lincoln and Grant. He was preceded in death by his parents James (June); brother, Robert.
Visitation is Saturday August 26, from 11-1p.m. at the Dykstra Funeral Home - Northwood Chapel, 295 Douglas Ave, Holland. A funeral service will follow the Visitation at 1p.m. at the funeral home. Pastor Jim Barr will officiate the ceremony.
