David Scott Snyder, age 62, passed away in a traffic accident on Saturday the 18th of May 2019, while traveling to a family gathering with his wife.

Born November 18th 1956 in Pontiac Michigan to Laura and Loyce Snyder, David graduated with his Master degree in Psychology from Western Michigan University. There he met Ileana, the love of his life; the two were to celebrate their 40th year of marriage next month. Along with wife Ileana, David leaves behind his mother, Laura, two daughters, Alexandra and Constanza (Tantzi) and son Nicholas. He had 3 grandsons, Aaron, Oliver and Théoden with his first granddaughter due to be born next week. Along with his 15 nieces and nephews. David influenced countless schoolmates, neighbors and family-friends throughout his life; many seeing them as their father figure.

David was a devout Christian and an active member in his community; over the years serving on the board of education, numerous church councils, participating in small groups and most importantly, positively influencing the everyday lives of friends, families and strangers.

Known for his openness and curiosity, David was able to meet and connect with people wherever he went. His familiarity with those in his life was evident in that anyone who met him felt like they were his “favorite”.

As one who enjoyed life to the fullest, David was an enthusiast of wine, history, Ímusic, literature, world events, golf and the Detroit Tigers. A fierce competitor, David never shied away from a problem, challenge or friendly game of cards.

A memorial service to celebrate the life of this friend to all, will be held at 4pm Friday (May 24, 2019) at Moran Park Church, 97 W 22nd Street.

Arrangements are by the Dykstra Funeral Home-Downtown Chapel.
