Darlene Elinore Kolean passed away peacefully at Resthaven Care Center in Holland, Michigan, on October 13, 2024, at the age of 83. Born on July 7, 1941, in Munising, Michigan, Darlene was a graduate of Holland High School and a member of the pioneer class at Grand Valley State College, where she earned her degree in Education.

A leader in promoting holistic health in Holland, Darlene focused on massage therapy and yoga, inspiring many in her community. She was also known for her love of singing and dancing, actively participating in the Holland Community Theater and various choirs, sharing her joy of music with others.

Darlene is survived by her son, Daniel (Sarah) Kolean; her sister, Norma Pruis; her grandchildren, Emily (Eric) Matych, Charlie Kolean, and Alena (Jake) Collaer; her great-granddaughter, Lillian Kathleen Collaer; and her son-in-law, Murray Leshner. She was preceded in death by her parents, Gus and Esther Nynas; her sister, Delores Jager; and her daughter, Kathleen Kolean Leshner.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, October 19, at Dykstra Funeral Homes – Northwood Chapel, 295 Douglas Avenue in Holland. Rev. LuAnne Stanley Hook will be officiating.

A visitation will take place from 10:00 am - 10:45 am at the funeral home prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be given to the First United Methodist Church or Resthaven Care Center.
