Daniel Bruce Oonk, age 80, was taken to be with the Lord, in Heaven, on Tuesday, February 16th, 2021. He was surrounded by his loving family in his home.

He is survived by his loving wife of nearly 40 years; Beth Oonk; their three children, Andrew Oonk, Casey Oonk, Charlotte (Danny) Carrier; daughter, Shelley (Roger) Huard; son, Greg Oonk (Sandy Krysch); grandchildren; great-grandchildren; two elder sisters, MaryJo Wood, Patricia Dolittle, along with his aunt, several cousins, nieces and nephews.

Dan was born in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, but moved to Holland, Michigan with his family when he was just a babe. He was raised by his loving parents, Casey and Leona (Mulder) Oonk. As an adolescent, Dan enjoyed various sports, sailing and pranking his older sisters. Dan was a consistent hard worker and always knew how to put a smile on others faces. He later went on to work for his father at Parkway Electric expanding his knowledge in the trade.

When he was a strapping young man of 39, Dan fell head over heels for a red head named Beth in Grand Rapids. The two had a whirlwind romance, and he was able to woo his new bride to live with him on the coast of Lake Michigan. All the while raising three rambunctious children, Dan was owner and proprietor of Northland Lanes, “Letting the Good Times Roll.”

Being the good-time-Charlie that he was, after they became empty nesters, Beth and Dan went on to travel and put the focus back on themselves. He enjoyed many days golfing, watching sunsets and enjoying the beautiful seasons Western Michigan has to offer.

He will be dearly missed and greatly remembered by all.

Family and friends are invited to his celebration of life on Wednesday, February 24th. Visitation will begin at 12:30pm, followed by the service at 1:30pm at Calvary Christian Reformed Church; 400 Beeline Rd, Holland, MI 49424.
