Constance Hinga Boersma loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She loved and cared for His people.

Connie was born to Milton (Bud) Hinga and Gladys Kendrick Hinga on August 11, 1927. She attended Holland High School and graduated from Hope College.

She married the love of her life, Max D. Boersma, on August 4, 1949. They lived in Grand Rapids for 40 years and were active in the community, the Grand Rapids Public Schools, and Central Reformed Church, where Connie was one of its first female Elders.

After retiring to Holland in 1992, Connie and Max became very involved with Hope College, the community, and Christ Memorial Reformed Church. Connie and Max were honored with the Distinguished Alumni Award and an honorary doctoral degree at Hope College.

For over 25 years, Connie served Communion on Sunday evenings at Hope College’s The Gathering. She was grateful to be known by many Hope College students as “Grandma Boersma”.

Connie was preceded in death by her husband, Max, in 2003

Her beloved family consists of her three children and their spouses: Bill and Claire Boersma, Tom and Betsy Jasperse, Paul and Melody Boersma; her grandchildren: Bryan and Melissa Boersma, Ross and Rachel Dieleman, David and Tara Boersma, Brent and Caitlin Boersma, Aaron and Hannah Beth Boersma, Joel Boersma, Patrick and Emily Sanders, James Jasperse, Scott Jasperse; and 13 great-grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Rod and Shirley Boersma and cousin, Vern and Lois Boersma.

A memorial service will be held, 2 pm Friday (January 8), at Christ Memorial Church, 595 Graafschap Road. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Masks are required for both the visitation and the memorial service. The service will be live streamed on the Dykstra Funeral Home Facebook Page, https://www.facebook.com/dykstrafuneralhome.
