Chem Chan Phothisan

It is with deep sadness that the family of Chem Chan Phothisan, 76, of Holland, Michigan, announce her passing on Monday, March 15, 2021. Chem Chan was born in Thailand to Cheuy and Khampoun Bounkieng on June 5, 1944.

While in Thailand, she met her late husband, Thavone Phothisan. They were wed in 1962. Together they raised 7 children. As a family, they relocated to the United States in 1979. Chem Chan worked for and eventually retired from Request Foods.

She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She leaves to cherish her memory:

Her 7 children: Daraphone, Louie, Daravan, Vilaphan, Valarie, Vivian and Vilasack.

17 grandchildren: Vinai and Nicholas Watcharine, Elvis, Evita and Jamison Chanthaphanh, Acky and Justin Inthisane, Jonathan Voravong, Alex, Nikki, Adriana Phothisan, Anthony, Kelsey, Khameron, Kyleigh, Khloe and Karinne Phothisan.

9 great-grandchildren: Ryu, Kendrick and Kayori Watcharine, Grayson, Penelope and Maverick Inthisane, Kaison, Kayden and Kalix Chanthaphanh-Ket.

She will deeply be missed by her family, friends and all that knew her.

Services will be 1 pm, Thursday (March 18), at the Dykstra Funeral Home-Mulder Chapel, 188 West 32nd Street. Visitation will be 6-8 pm, Wednesday (March 17) also at the Dykstra Funeral Home-Mulder Chapel, 188 West 32nd Street.
