Life Story / Obituary
Charles L. Large, age 81, of Holland died Sunday, November 21, 2021 at Holland Hospital.
Charlie owned local businesses, Holland Electric Salvage and the Large Real Estate Investment Corporation. He started recycling metals in 1958 and continued until just prior to his 81st birthday. His grandson Abram joined him on the road buying and selling scrap metals. Charlie was a very hard worker his entire life. He attended Rose Park Baptist church where he enjoyed the fellowship. Charlie was very proud of being baptized in his own pool at home.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Bernice Lawrence and step-father Charles Lawrence, his brothers, Steve Lawrence, Frank Lawrence and Harold Large, a sister, Kay Oetman and brother-in-law, Ronald DenUyl.
He is survived by his wife Donetta and children: Chelle Quist and Kevin Carmel of Belmont, MI, Eric (Kristine) Large of West Olive, MI and Tracie (Adam) Prince of Holland, MI; grandchildren: Jennifer (Alex) Kahwa, Heather (Scott) McGleish, Joshua (Kalyn) Watson, Michael Quist, Bryce DeWitt, Brayden DeWitt, Koda Hall, Payten Hathaway, Jessica Perkins, Abram Prince, Corporal Lawton Prince, and Sullivan Prince; great grandchildren: Austin, Olivia, Madalynn, Parker, Dawson, Ronan, Milo, Serenity, and Melody; sister: Barb Oetman of Irons, MI; sister-in-law: Marilyn Hulst of Holland, MI; brother-in-law: Richard (Maryanne) DenUyl of Marysville, MI; sister-in-law: Sally DenUyl of South Haven, MI; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
A funeral service will be held at 12:00 pm, Monday, November 29, 2021 at Rose Park Baptist Church, 600 Butternut Drive in Holland. Rev. Rob Pophal will be officiating. Burial will be in Graafschap cemetery.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be given to the Shriners International, St Jude’s Children Hospital or Rose Park Baptist Church. Arrangements are by Dykstra Funeral Homes-Northwood Chapel.
