Chad A. Nykerk age 33 of Holland died when a sudden onset of mental illness resulted in him taking his own life Monday, September 18, 2017.

Born in Holland, Chad graduated from Holland Christian High School class of 2002. Chad also attended Grand Valley State University as well as Kettering University.

Chad was employed for 3 years as a packaging designer for the Bradford Co. A lifelong member of First Reformed Church, Chad enjoyed biking, jujitsu, and was a former member of the American Legion Band.

He was an accomplished computer expert and enjoyed countless hours researching and designing computers.

Chad is survived by his parents Jim and Rachel Nykerk of Holland, brothers; Dan Nykerk, Jeff Nykerk and Ben and Beth Nykerk all of Holland. He is also survived by his grandfather, Arie Versendaal of Holland and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be held Saturday 11:00 AM, First Reformed Church, 630 State St., with Dr. Dan Gillett officiating. Burial will be in Lakewood Cemetery.

Friends may call on the family Friday 2-4 and 6-8 at the Northwood Chapel, Dykstra Funeral Homes, 295 Douglas Ave., Holland.
