Life Story / Obituary
Catherine Ann Van Dyke, age 65, of Niles passed away Friday, September 13, 2013 at Hospice House of Holland.
Katy touched many lives as a teacher and friend. Everyone who knew her was blessed with her generous and loving heart and big smile. She really enjoyed being active with her grandkids. Katy and her husband Fred were married on July 23, 1983 at Hilltop Lutheran Church in South Bend, IN. Katy attended Caledonia High School and received her Master’s degree at Indiana University at South Bend. She taught at Emmons Elementary in Mishawaka where she retired in 2010. She attended Berrien Center Bible Church. She was preceded in death by her granddaughter Adeline Raczynski, and her father and mother Arthur and Marian Roodvoets.
She is survived by her husband Fred and children: Ty and (Gretchen Ludeman) Galloway, Amy and Michael Raczynski, Gretchen Galloway; step-children: Robb and Kim Van Dyke, Bill and Teresa Van Dyke, Amy Van Dyke; grandchildren: Magda Catherine, Oliver and Jack Raczynski, Finn and Graham Galloway, Will and Ella Van Dyke, Corrin Weaver and Thomas Wojciechowski; brothers and sisters: Mary Sabo, Jeanne and Dave Skinner, Sue Middlebush, Guy and Barb Roodvoets, Jim and Sharon Roodvoets; brother and sister-in-law: Lynn and Guy Chiattelo, Dan Van Dyke; many nieces, nephews and cousins
A funeral service will be 11:00 AM, Thursday, September 19, 2013 at Zion Lutheran Church 77 West 32nd Street in Holland.
Reverend Ryan Winningham will be officiating.
Burial will be in Zeeland Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 10-11 AM, one hour prior to the service at the church.
