Carla K. Ryan

Carla Krueger Ryan, age 101, passed away peacefully on November 3, 2025.

Born in 1924 in Muskegon Heights, Michigan, Carla graduated from Muskegon Heights High School in 1942 and went on to attend Muskegon Business School. She spent 30 years as the office manager at Wolverine Signs, Inc. in Owosso, Michigan, before retiring to Holland, Michigan, to be closer to family.

Carla was known for her joyful spirit and many hobbies. She enjoyed bowling, golfing, reading, and completing jigsaw puzzles. She loved a good game of euchre with her great-grandnephews and also stayed connected with family through friendly rounds of Words with Friends online.

A woman of faith, Carla was an active member of First Congregational Church in Owosso and Pillar Christian Reformed Church in Holland, where she volunteered her time generously. She also gave many years of service volunteering in the gift shops at both the Owosso and Holland hospitals and was a dedicated member of the Women’s Literary Club in Holland.

Carla is survived by her nieces and nephews: Nancy Krueger, Charles (Sherry) Krueger, James (Cherie) Krueger, and Richard (MaryAnn) Krueger; seven grandnieces and grandnephews; ten great-grandnieces and great-grandnephews; and three great-great-grandnieces.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Ryan; her parents, Carl and Rose Krueger; her sisters, Rosellen and Althea Krueger; her brother, John (Dorothy) Krueger; and her nephew, Daniel C. Krueger.

Carla’s kindness, warmth, and sense of humor touched all who knew her. She will be deeply missed.

A funeral service honoring Carla’s life will be held on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at 12:00 p.m. at Dykstra Funeral Home – Northwood Chapel, 295 Douglas Ave., Holland, Michigan.Family and friends are invited to gather for visitation one hour prior to the service, beginning at 11:00 a.m.
