Beverly Roxanne Spain Birczak is eating Angel Food Cake today in Heaven with her husband of 61 years Ray. She was preceded in death by her mom Hulda Jarman, her dad Fred Spain, her 3 brothers and 5 of her sisters. Bev was the 6th child of 12 and has 3 surviving sisters Marty Bryant, Laverne Wright, and Julia Morrow. Beverly was 92 and passed away on November 4th of natural causes at her daughter’s home in Holland, Michigan surrounded by her family. Bev and her husband Ray built a home in Niles, Michigan on Bond Street when they were 23 and 27 years old and she lived there for 66 years. Mom was always so proud of her family and will forever be remembered as the “Fun and loving” Mom, Grandma, and Great Grandma. She never missed an opportunity to give an amazing back rub, tell you the benefits of using “Vicks”, go on a hike to the river, play in the tree house she built in the apple tree, go sledding, build a snow fort, put a ball in a pillowcase and hang it from a long rope in the tree so you could use it for batting practice, hooking the wagon up to the tractor to pull kids around and collect leaves, keeping her drawer full of Little Debbie oatmeal cream pies, playing a fierce game of UNO or RACKO, or to just sit on the porch swing and talk. Her grandchildren said she was creative and dedicated to her family and made the best bowl of popcorn with sliced apples. She will be forever missed by Her children: Carol Perkins (Bob), Faith Bailey (Mike), Todd Birczak (Sandy), and Betsy Phillips (Kevin). Her Grandchildren: Rob Perkins (Holly), Brian Perkins (Ronda), Erin Williams (Jeff), Ryan Bailey (Laura), Brooke Rose (Nick), Chelsea Clementi (Mike), Nathan Birczak, Keith Phillips, and Lydia Phillips. Her Great Grandchildren: Connor Perkins, Collin Perkins, Abbey Perkins, Cameron Perkins, Trey Williams, Stella Williams, Bode Williams, Mason Bailey, Cooper Bailey, Hudson Bailey, Phoebe Bailey, James Clementi, and Julia Clementi. In an unselfish and giving manner mom donated her body to the University of Michigan Medical School for Science Research. One of her grandson’s said that’s what she taught us to always look to learning and provide for others to explore their passions. We would like to give a special thank you to two special ladies Sara and Alyssa with Hospice of Holland. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Holland, 270 Hoover Blvd, Holland, MI 49423. At a later date there will be a graveside service where the family will place Bev and Ray’s ashes side-by-side in their plots at Mission Hills. When you see a pretty flower take time to Smell it – Smile – and think about our mom!
