Bernice Mae Voss, of Holland, Michigan, passed away on January 9, 2023.

Bernice was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan to Berend and Johanna Poppema on May 1, 1931. She grew up in the Jenison area and went to Zeeland High School. While out with friends at the Zeeland Roller Rink, she met the love of her life Roger Voss. After 13 months of dating, Bernice married Roger on February 22, 1951 and the two had four children. They loved spending their free time riding motorcycles, snowmobiling, and taking family trips across the country. Their most memorable trip was on their 50th anniversary when they rented a 15-passenger van, and invited their whole family to a vacation in Gulf Shores Alabama. Bernice had many hobbies, but especially enjoyed baking, sewing, and crochet. She was known for her “Christmas Bells,” which she made (up to 1,000) and gave out to friends and family over the years. Bernice will survive in the hearts and memories of those who loved her and all those whom she referred to as “love.” She was as a selfless woman who made every day a good day. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother and will be deeply missed by all.

Bernice was preceded in death by her loving husband of 52 years, Roger in 2004; son, Randy Voss; grandson, David Lee Voss; sister, Betty Junglas; and brother, Wayne Poppema.

Bernice’s memory will be kept alive by those who survive her, including her children, Mike (Christine) Voss, Linda Postma, Sandra Garcia; grandchildren, Michael Voss, Kathy Ortiz, Patti (Chad) VanHuizen, Christina Voss (Tim Summers), Matthew Keller, Greg Sterken Jr, Carrie (Brad) Johnson, Jamie (Dan) Quintanilla, Michelle (Derek Carpenter), Sonja Garcia (Josh Tandlich), Jason (Val) Voss, Katie (Brandon) Newhouse; 34 great-grandchildren; and 9 great-great grandchildren.

A time of visitation will be Friday, January 13, 2023 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Dykstra Funeral Home - Northwood Chapel (295 Douglas Ave, Holland).

A funeral service honoring Bernice will be held at Dykstra Funeral Home - Northwood Chapel on Saturday, January 14, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. with a graveside service following at North Holland Cemetery. There will be a gathering following the graveside service at Engedi Church, 710 Chicago Dr #100, Holland.
