Beatrice (Bea) Smith, age 90, of Holland, passed away Thursday, March 12, 2015.

Bea was born in Holland, MI to Edward and Anna (Borgman) Smith.

She graduated from Holland High School, attended Moody Bible Institute, and graduated from Hope College.

Bea was a teacher and principal for the West Ottawa Public Schools for many years and retired from the Zeeland Public Schools, where she was also a teacher and principal.

Bea loved all her students and viewed her teaching as a true ministry.

She was a faithful member of Covenant Presbyterian Church.

Bea was preceded in death by her brothers, Edward Smith and Irvin Smith and sisters, Marvina Bolt and Vera Pullen.

She is survived by her sister, Anita and Howard Dyke of Holland; sister-in-law, Mary Smith of Zeeland; nephews and nieces; and longtime special friend of Bea and her family, Norma Kleis of Holland.

Funeral services will be 1:30 pm, Monday, March 16, 2015 at Covenant Presbyterian Church, 1015 East 32nd Street, with the Rev’s Ken Klett and Hans Deutschmann officiating.

Burial will be in Pilgrim Home Cemetery.

Visitation will be 3-5 pm Sunday, March 15, 2015, at the Dykstra Funeral Home-Mulder Chapel, 188 West 32nd Street.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Holland rescue Mission or Mission India.
