Barbara L. Bredeweg, age 79, of West Olive, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday August 1, 2021.
Mrs. Bredeweg was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan to Harold and Dorothy Young on May 22, 1942. She attended Kelloggsville Public Schools and graduated with the class of 1960. In 1961 Barb met the love of her life, Mr. Robert "Bob" Bredeweg at Candy Ann's Drive Inn. Two years later they were married at Kelloggsville Christian Reformed Church. They lived in Carbondale IL, Midland MI where they lived for 30 years and Lake Jackson TX. Barb always had a heart for people and helping them. She was a loving wife and mother. Barb sold Avon for several years and made many lifelong friends. Later in life, she earned an Associate’s degree in small business management from Delta College. She used her knowledge to volunteer in the gift shop at MidMichigan Medical Center in Midland. Barb was known for her positive outlook on life and her easy smile. Her hobbies included beading, collecting angels, bells and traveling. Later in life Barb and Bob enjoyed wintering in Florida. Together they retired to Holland to be close to their grandchildren. Mrs. Bredeweg was a longtime member of Beechwood Reformed Church. Barb and Bob shared 58 wonderful years of marriage. Barb was loved by all who knew her and will truly be missed.
Barbara is survived by her son, Todd (Deborah Rezanka) Bredeweg; daughter, Cheryl (Andreas) Barthel; grandchildren, Nicole Barthel, Stephanie Barthel; many loving extended family. Mrs. Bredeweg was preceded in death by her grandson, Tyler Barthel.
The family will receive visitors on Saturday August 7, from 10:00am to 12:00pm, at Beechwood Reformed Church, 895 Ottawa Beach Road, Holland, Michigan. A funeral ceremony will be held following visitation at 12:00pm at Beechwood Church. Reverend Marlin Vis will preside over the service (livestream at https://beechwoodchurch.org). Interment will be in Jamestown Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Beechwood Reformed Church to support Hand2Hand ministry.
