Avis Valeria Geren, age 95, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, January 17, 2025, at Resthaven Care Center.
She was employed with Lerners Dress Shop in Atlanta, GA and Jacksonville, FL and a manager at Cappon Shell Station in Middleville, MI. Avis was a member of the Middleville United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir, and she loved coordinating and walking in the Barry County Crop Walk. She enjoyed camping, traveling, and even going on a cruise.
She was preceded in death by her parents Roy Edward Sr. and Floy (Lord) Rogers, husband Mitchell Geren, daughter Rebecca Watson, grandsons James Bowyer and Jason Bowyer, sister Jacqueline Foley, and brother Roy Edward Rogers Jr.
She is survived by her children: Mitchell Geren Jr., Susan (Clarence Jr.) Bowyer, Denise Denham, Renee (Timothy) Bowyer, and Wesley Geren; 22 grandchildren; 43 great grandchildren; 25 great-great grandchildren; sister: Dorothy Reid; special cousin David Lord; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Avis’s body will be donated to the University of Michigan Medical School.
