Arlyne Ruth (Vanderwoude) Ritterby, age 93, passed away February 12, 2017 at Appledorn Assisted Living Center. Her final days were spent surrounded by family and friends. She was born May 20, 1923 in Holland, MI. She was the daughter of Martin and Christine Rotman. She was a lifelong Holland area resident.

Arlyne attended Holland Public Schools and was an active member in the community. She was a lifelong member of Trinity Reformed Church where she worked for many years as a secretary and later as a staff member in the pastoral care where she touched many lives. Family and friends were Arlyne’s passion and delight. She was extremely dedicated and loved spending time with her family. She loved to golf, travel, attending Hope College basketball games, shopping and antiques. Her smile lit up a room and she will be forever missed.

She was married to Gustave F. Ritterby who was the love of her life. They shared four children whom she adored. Gus preceded her in death in 1988. Arlyne met Cornelius A. Vanderwoude whom she later married in 1990. Con preceded her in death in 1993.

Arlyne is survived by her children Greg (Roseann) Ritterby, Phil (Mary) Ritterby, Bryan Ritterby (Joann Koppenaal), and Kristi (Bob) Bruce; four grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.

Visitation will be held on Thursday February 16, at 11:00am at Trinity Reformed Church prior to a service at 12:00pm with Rev. Chris DeGraaf officiating.
