Arlene Jean Michaelis, age 84, of Holland, MI went home to be with the Lord Saturday, October 21, 2023.

Arlene grew up in Chicago and graduated from Lakeview High school and Grant Hospital. She resided in Oak Park, IL for 27 years raising her four boys. Her career as a Registered Nurse (RN) showed her compassion and care for so many people.

She accepted Jesus as her personal Savior at the age of 12. She was passionate serving Christ through a variety of ministries such as Stephens Ministries, Bible Study Fellowship Leader, and New Mom Ministries.

She enjoyed singing classical music and hymns, visiting the Chicago Art Institute, Disney, traveling to Israel, Turkey, Greece, Russia, Germany, and the many times spent at Sanibel Island.

Arlene had a passionate love for her husband, children, grandkids, and great grandkids. She was a beautiful caregiver all her life.

She was preceded in death by a son Kevin Scott Michaelis, brother Thomas Schoenberg and sister Margaret Schoenberg.

She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Siegfried, and children: Keith (Sue) Michaelis of Arlington Heights, IL, Jeff (Mary Beth) Michaelis of Holland, and Eric (Mina) Michaelis of Holland; grandchildren: Kevin Michaelis, Cailey (Sam) Thomas, Brendan Michaelis, Joshua (Michelle) Michaelis, Nathaniel (Jordan) Michaelis and Mathias Michaelis; greatgrandchildren: Jonah and Isaiah and nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm, Saturday, October 28, 2023, at Dykstra Funeral Home - Mulder Chapel, 188 West 32nd Street in Holland. Rev. Mary DeWitt will be officiating. Final resting place will be in Acacia Park Cemetery in Illinois.
