Life Story / Obituary
Alton βAlβ J. Harrington, age 88, of Holland went to meet his Lord and Savior Wednesday, November 27, 2024, at Holland Hospital.
Al was a volunteer Firefighter for 50 years, served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, and a member of the American Legion Post 6. He was a lifelong member of Central Wesleyan Church attending for over 80 years. He was employed at Roamer Yachts, Chris Craft, Grand Craft, before retiring from Great Lakes Interiors.
Al enjoyed camping with his family, especially at the P. J. Hoffmaster, Platte River, Muskegon, and Ludington parks. One could often find Al walking in the woods or watching sunsets on Lake Michigan.
He was preceded in death by his parents Charles and Alice (Wyma) Harrington and 3 sisters.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Marilyn and children: Rick (Nancee) Harrington of Zeeland, Dan (Lori) Harrington of Zeeland, and Joni (Scott) Troeger of Holland; grandchildren: Phillip Harrington, Lesley (Virgil) Feurst, Jamie (Joshua) Knap, Joshua (Danielle) Harrington, Jared (Nontobeko) Harrington, Stephanie (A.J.) Chrisman, Kelsie Troeger, and Kalie (Tyler) Lemke; 16 great grandchildren; sister: Carolyn Etterbeek of Holland; brother-in-laws: John Groenewoud of Holland and Roger (Vonda) Kraak of Kalamazoo; many nieces, nephews, and cousins
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, December 14, 2024, at the Central Wesleyan Church Chapel, 446 W. 40th Street in Holland, please use entrance G. Rev. Lynn Bruce and Rev. Dr. Paul Hontz will be officiating. Burial will be in Lakewood cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6-8 pm, Friday, December 13, at the Central Wesleyan Church Chapel and from 1-2 pm prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be given to the Central Wesleyan Missions Fund or Evergreen Commons in Holland. To livestream the service, please click HERE
