Life Story / Obituary
Allen Ostrander, age 63, of Holland, passed away Sunday October 4, 2009 at his home, surrounded by his family, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Allen was born June 12, 1946 in the Bronx, N.Y. .As a child he won swimming medals from The Daily Mirror Newspaper, and later fought in the Golden Gloves Boxing Organization in upstate New York. After moving to New Jersey, in 1967, he met and married Marie Guzinski, on May 18, 1968.Together they had four children and seven grandchildren. In December of 1995, the entire family relocated to Holland, Michigan. He was an avid boxing and wrestling enthusiast. He loved to cook and collect rare coins and any kind of memorabilia. He was a wonderful father and husband who will be missed very, very much.
He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Marie (Guzinski) Ostrander of Holland; his children, Dawn Ostrander of Holland, Brian Ostrander of Holland, Jody Ostrander of Paw Paw, and Jason Ostrander of Zeeland; his seven grandchildren, Michael, Amanda, and Brandon Brancaccio, Dakota Colnick, Abby Ostrander, Kaelee and Shayla Vogt; and a great-grandchild due in April, his brother, Leonard Ostrander of North Carolina; his sister-in-law, Margaret Lavin of New Jersey; his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Richard and Lorraine Guzinski of Florida; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00am Friday October 9, 2009 at the Mulder Chapel, Dykstra Life Story Funeral Homes, 188 West 32nd Street with Rev. Corwin Stoppel officiating.
Visitation will be held Thursday October 8, 2009 from 2-4 and 7-9pm at the Mulder Chapel.
