Allan Howard Russcher, M.D., age 90, quietly and peacefully entered eternity on Friday, June 16, 2023.

Allan was born on July 28, 1932, to George and Theresa (Smallegan) Russcher in Shelby, MI and spent his childhood in Muskegon. He graduated from Hope College and received his medical degree from the University of Michigan. He was a pathologist and Director of the lab at Bronson Hospital in Kalamazoo, but later found his true calling caring for patients in the Pullman/South Haven communities as a “country doc”

Allan loved music and gardening. He played bass clarinet with at least five community bands, as well as in the orchestra at Christ Memorial Church and shared his horticultural talents with friends and family. He was a member of Hope Reformed Church in South Haven.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Glenn Earl Russcher of Kennewick, Washington.

Alan is survived by his wife of 37 years, Rebecca; 3 sons, Joel (Karen) Russcher, Gregg (Lynn) Russcher, and Todd Russcher; 5 daughters, Glennyce (Michael) Grindstaff, Heidi (Tim) Berry, Joy Russcher, Judy Kleis, and Holly (Kirk) Hart; 18 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; brother, Lee (Margaret Haase) Russcher M.D.; sister, Donna Robinette; many nephews, nieces, cousins, and countless friends.

Services will be private. The family would like to thank Corwell Hospice, especially Andrea and Sandra, for their loving care during the past seven months and Dykstra Funeral Home-Saugatuck Chapel.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Holland American Legion Band, Zeeland Community Band, or Moody Bible Institute.
