Willard “Bill” Penna, age 89, of Holland, passed away April 9, 2024 following a battle with Dementia. He was born on May 10, 1934, in Holland, Michigan. Bill graduated from Holland High School and served in the U.S. Army.

For the majority of his working career he was self-employed. Bill served as a volunteer firefighter, donated his time to several causes including his involvement with the FOP, VFW and American Legion.

His greatest joy was spending time outdoors with his family and friends, teaching his kids and grand kids how to fish, ride dirt bikes, enjoy nature and animals.

Bill was preceded in death by his second wife, Patricia; parents, Willard and Lois Penna Purcell; step-father, Jerry Purcell and sister, Onalee Boraas.

He is survived by his children, Patrick (Melanie) Penna, Peggy (Todd) Housenga, Polly Penna, Paige (Dave) Laarman and stepson Scott (Julie) Cramer. Also surviving him are grandchildren, Brooke (Taylor) Walburg, Whitney (Aaron) Buck, Logan (Jaiden) Housenga, Chace Laarman, Bryn Laarman, Joshua (Emerald) Cramer, Kirsten (Austin) TenHarmsel, and Camden (Frankie) Cramer and several great-grandchildren.

He will be missed more than can be imagined by his family and friends. We would like to thank those who supported and cared for him including Hospice of Holland, Quincy Place, and Spectrum Anticoagulant Clinic.

Per his request, there will be no visitation or services. People are welcome to give of their time or donations to a favorite non-profit or cause in his memory.
