Vernon “Vern” Lloyd De Pree, 86, died March 13, 2018.

Born September 17, 1931 in Holland to Gertie and Edward De Pree. At the age of 12 and 15, Vern lost both his parents. Also proceeding him in death were his son Daniel Lee De Pree; sisters and brother-in-laws, Katherine (Fred) Veltman, Shirley (Elmer) Hirdes; mother & father-in law, Margaret & Alfred Arentz.

Vern is survived by his wife of 41 years, Patricia Margaret De Pree; daughter, Catherine Lea (Craig) Borst; daughter-in-law, Judy De Pree; grandchildren, Stacy (Chris) Hampton, Michael (Morgan) Borst, Doug (Cara) De Pree, Michelle (Adam) Cook; great-grandchildren, Jameson Hampton, Bryce De Pree, Austin De Pree, Landon Cook; sister-in-law & brother-in-law, Diana (Keith) Bosch of Traverse City; nephew, Tom (Jill) Bosch of Harbor Springs; niece, Anne Bosch of Traverse City; and special friend and neighbor, Paulie and Michelle Van Dyke.

Vern was in the Army company D. 31st medium tank battalion. He owned and operated his own company (De Pree Electric) for 45 years. He belonged to the Holland Country Club, Holland Elks, Ducks Unlimited, and Bayshore Yacht Club. He was an outdoor person who loved boating, hunting, fishing, and tournaments on his boat “The Manhattan”, going up and down the great lakes with his wife Pat. Motor coaching to Maine was also a special time. Most important was spending time with his wife, family and especially his grandchildren.

The Funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 17 at 11:00am with an hour of visitation before at Grace Episcopal Church, 555 Michigan Ave, in Holland.
